Dr James Johnston

James Johnston (Te Aupouri/ Ngati Kuri) is a trainee in ORL-HNS. He was selected onto the training programme in 2015 and received the Garnett Passe and Rodney Williams memorial foundation surgeon-scientist scholarship.
He deferred surgical training to complete his PhD at the University of Auckland under the supervision of Professor Richard Douglas. His research interests are adenotonsillar disease and Maori health. He has more than 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals to date and is passionate about encouraging others to incorporate research into surgical training and beyond. |
