Dr Richard E. Hayden

Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Education Director, The Mayo Clinic Center for Regenerative Medicine, USA

Dr. Hayden is Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and serves as Education Director for the Mayo Clinic Center for Regenerative Medicine and as Associate Dean, Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. He is the Program Director for the Advanced Head and Neck Microvascular and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship Mayo Clinic Arizona, the longest running fellowship in this discipline 1983-2022. He is also the Founder and Medical Director of the Post-Graduate Physician Assistant Fellowship, Department of Otolaryngology, Mayo Clinic Arizona. He received his medical degree at McGill University and his MSc in Neurophysiology from Edinburgh University. He completed his Otolaryngology residency at the University of Toronto, followed by fellowships in Head and Neck Oncology at MD Anderson Hospital and Radiation Oncology at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, as well as two traveling fellowships in Facial Plastic Surgery. He was a pioneer of complex and microvascular reconstruction for head and neck defects. He has published more than 125 peer-reviewed papers and has served as the keynote speaker at many national and international conferences.
