Grace completed her degree in Nursing in the Philippines where she practiced as a theatre nurse for a number of years before she moved to New Zealand. In 2012, she gained her qualification as a Registered Nurse First Surgical Assistant (RNFSA) for ENT, General Surgery, Cardio-thoracic Surgery, and Vascular Surgery.

Grace completed her Masters in Nursing in 2019 at the University of Auckland. Her research paper explored the impact of non-technical skills on risk management in the operating theatre.
