Derek Goodisson is Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Hastings, New Zealand. He graduated in Medicine and Dentistry from the University of Otago, completing his basic maxillofacial training in New Zealand before heading to the United Kingdom where he was a specialist trainee on the South West rotation.
Although his subspecialty interest was in head and neck oncology, he served six years on the AO CMF Asia-Pacific trauma board and brought the first CMF trauma courses to New Zealand. He has a very generalist practice in Hawkes Bay. The hospital unit is a Johnson and Johnson Center of Excellence for virtual surgical planning and an early adopter of patient specific implants. He has helped pioneered the use of this in trauma and orthognathic surgery in particular. |
